PINGEQUA · J305 β / γ Geiger-Müller Expansion

Geiger Counter · Flipper Zero

A compact radiation-detection board. Tube on the module. Counts on the Flipper.

A compact J305 Geiger-Müller expansion for the Flipper Zero. It detects beta (β) and gamma (γ) events and is built for the community Geiger Counter app (credit to nmrr). The same board also drives Atomic Dice Roller, which turns radiation events into true random numbers for games and experiments. The Flipper Zero host is not included. For education, development, and authorized testing — not a medical or legal dosimetry instrument.

  • J305 Geiger-Müller tube. Hobby / educational GM tube on a Flipper-sized expansion board.
  • Beta and gamma. Specified for β and γ detection. Not specified for alpha (α).
  • Flipper GPIO dock. Seats on the Flipper Zero GPIO header. The host supplies power and the screen.
  • Geiger Counter app (nmrr). Community app graphs counts on the Flipper display.
  • Atomic Dice Roller. Uses detection events as entropy for true random dice / coin results.
  • PWR and DET LEDs. Power and detection indicators on the board, as shown in the product photos.
  • No host in the box. Flipper Zero is sold separately. This SKU is the expansion module.
  • Stated use only. Education, development, and authorized testing — not diagnosis or emergency response.
// 01 · How it works

The tube counts events. The Flipper shows them.

No second screen on the module. The Flipper Zero is the host, the power source, and the display.

The board carries a J305 Geiger-Müller tube. When a beta or gamma event ionizes the tube, the module passes that pulse to the Flipper Zero over the GPIO header. Open the community Geiger Counter app by nmrr and the Flipper screen shows the live count and graph. That is the “real-time display”: the host LCD, not a separate panel on the board.

The same pulses can feed Atomic Dice Roller (also by nmrr). That app hashes the timing of radiation events to produce true random numbers — dice rolls, coin flips — instead of a software PRNG. You do not need a check source; background events are enough for the dice app to collect ticks, though a quiet room takes longer.

// 02 · Quick start

Dock the board. Install the app. Open it.

Community apps, not a PINGEQUA firmware image. Credit to nmrr for both titles named on this page.
  1. Power the Flipper off. Seat the module on the GPIO header, straight and fully down. Do not force or tilt the pins.
  2. Install Geiger Counter (nmrr). Get the app from the Flipper app catalog or from github.com/nmrr/flipperzero-geigercounter and copy the .fap to your microSD if you sideload.
  3. Power on and open the app. The PWR LED on the board should light. Counts and the graph appear on the Flipper screen. For dice / random numbers, install Atomic Dice Roller the same way — nmrr documents the same board connection for both apps.
// 03 · Compatibility

Built for Flipper Zero. Not a standalone meter.

Works with
  • Flipper Zero (host device, sold separately)
  • Geiger Counter app by nmrr
  • Atomic Dice Roller app by nmrr
  • Beta (β) and gamma (γ) detection as specified
Not a fit for
  • Use without a Flipper Zero — this is an expansion, not a standalone instrument
  • Medical diagnosis, personal dosimetry, or legal dose records
  • Alpha (α) work — this listing specifies β and γ only
  • Cardputer, M5Stick, or other non-Flipper hosts

Apps are community software. PINGEQUA supplies the hardware module. Firmware forks and catalog builds change; if an app does not detect the board, reseat the header and confirm you installed the nmrr titles linked above.

// 06 · Honest limits

What this module is — and what it is not.

Overpromising creates refunds. Here is the actual boundary.
  • Not a medical or dosimetry instrument. A J305 hobby tube on an expansion board is for education and experiments. It is not a calibrated survey meter. Do not use it for diagnosis, workplace dose records, emergency response, or any safety-critical decision.
  • Beta and gamma only, as specified. This listing does not claim alpha (α) detection. Glass J305 tubes are the wrong tool if you need alpha.
  • Counts are not a legal dose. Community apps may offer extra units. Those conversions are unofficial. Trust the event count as a teaching signal, not a certified µSv/h reading.
  • Background ticks are normal. A live tube in a quiet room still clicks. That is the environment, not a defect.
  • The Flipper is the display. There is no separate readout panel on the module. If the app is not installed or the board is unseated, you will not see counts.
  • Host device not included. You need a Flipper Zero you already own.
// 07 · FAQ

Real questions, straight answers.

Q.00What is this for, and is the host included?

For education, authorized research, and interoperability testing only. The host device is not included. See Compliance & Responsible Use.

Q.01What is the PINGEQUA Geiger Counter Module for Flipper Zero?

A compact J305 Geiger-Müller expansion board for Flipper Zero. It detects beta (β) and gamma (γ) events and is used with the community Geiger Counter app (credit to nmrr). The Flipper Zero host is not included. SKU PQ-GEIGER-FZ. Price $88.80 USD.

Q.02What radiation types does it detect?

Beta (β) and gamma (γ), as specified on this listing. It is not specified for alpha (α) detection.

Q.03Is this a medical device or a calibrated dosimeter?

No. It is an educational / development expansion that uses a J305 hobby Geiger-Müller tube. It is not a medical instrument and is not sold for personal dosimetry, workplace dose records, or emergency response.

Q.04Which Flipper apps work with it?

The Geiger Counter app by nmrr, for live counts and a graph on the Flipper screen. Atomic Dice Roller, also by nmrr, uses the same board connection and turns detection-event timing into true random numbers for dice or coin results.

Q.05Is the Flipper Zero included?

No. This product is the expansion module only. You need a Flipper Zero you already own.

Q.06Does the module have its own display?

No. Counts and graphs appear on the Flipper Zero screen inside the Geiger Counter app. The board itself has PWR and DET LEDs.

Q.07How do I set it up?

Power the Flipper off, seat the module on the GPIO header, install the nmrr Geiger Counter app from the Flipper app catalog or GitHub, then power on and open the app. For random numbers, install Atomic Dice Roller the same way.

Q.08How does Atomic Dice Roller generate random numbers?

It hashes the timestamps of radiation detection events from the Geiger board. That is physical entropy from β/γ ticks, not a software pseudo-random generator. Credit to nmrr. A check source is not required; background events work, but a quiet environment collects ticks more slowly.

Q.09How long does shipping take, and what is the warranty?

We dispatch in 1–3 business days from Dongguan / Shenzhen. Free tracked shipping from $29.99 USD ($34.99 in the EU). Typical transit after dispatch is 7–10 business days to the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU. 14-day returns for unused items in original packaging. 6-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Host device is not included.
