Every ESP32-C5 board for Flipper Zero now claims dual-band wardriving, GPS, and one-tap WiGLE upload. As of August 2026, actual WarDrive support, GPS/SD hardware, and real 5 GHz behavior vary a lot batch to batch and vendor to vendor — some ship broken out of the box, some just haven't been independently tested yet.

ESP32-C5 only reached makers in 2024, and the ESP32 Marauder app that most of these boards run is still catching up — direct-to-WiGLE and WDGWars upload only landed in v1.14.0 (Jul 22, 2026), on top of older, still-lingering bugs like GPS fixes silently dropping after a soft reset (issue #338) and memory climbing to 95% mid-scan before a single AP shows up (issue #1087). None of that is specific to one board — it's the software layer every C5 board here runs on top of. What actually separates them is the hardware underneath: whether GPS and SD are built in and tested, or something the vendor is still sorting out.

What to actually check before buying a C5 wardriving board

ESP32-C5 is Espressif's first RISC-V chip with real dual-band 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6 radio hardware, released 2024 (Espressif product page). Every earlier ESP32 variant — the classic ESP32, S2, S3, C3, C6 — is 2.4 GHz only at the chip level, so a board built on any of those simply cannot do 5 GHz wardriving no matter what firmware runs on it. That's the baseline. Beyond "is it actually a C5," five things separate a board that works out of the box from one that turns into a support ticket:

• Real C5 silicon, not a relabeled 2.4 GHz-only board. Confirm the listing names ESP32-C5 specifically, not a generic "Marauder board" — older Marauder boards on S3/C3 hardware can run the same app but have no 5 GHz radio to switch to.
• WarDrive is actually enabled on the batch you're buying, not just printed on the box. Apex 5's first batch shipped without it — see below — and the fix landed on a later batch, not a firmware update you can pull yourself.
• GPS and microSD are built in, not something you have to wire up yourself. Hardwired GPS removes a whole class of pin-mapping and cold-boot mistakes, and Marauder's own wiki notes GPS needs open sky and roughly 30 seconds to 2 minutes to get a fix even when wired correctly.
• Plug-and-play vs DIY. Does it arrive flashed and ready, or do you need to solder, wire a GPS module, and flash Marauder yourself?
• Batch limits and stock status. Several of these boards are limited drops — they sell out, get relisted, or jump in price between batches, so "in stock today" and "in stock when you click the link" aren't the same thing.

Board-by-board

JCMK (Marauder C5 Adapter / C5 Wardriver)

justcallmekoko — the ESP32 Marauder firmware author — sells two separate C5 products. The Marauder C5 Adapter ($30) mounts on Flipper Zero, claims WarDrive support with built-in GPS/SD, and labels its second band 5.8 GHz — but it's currently sold out from a limited drop, and users have reported firmware bugs on that mode. Being the firmware author's own hardware, it's the closest thing to a reference board, which makes the reported 5.8 GHz bugs and sold-out status worth noting rather than dismissing. Separately, JCMK maintains the ESP32DualBandWardriver ("C5 Wardriver"), a standalone device (not Flipper-mounted) that's actively updated — v2.3.1 shipped Aug 2, 2026 — but it's a different product category from the boards in the table above.

Apex 5

Apex 5 ($99 → $79) packs ESP32-C5, two sub-GHz radios, NRF24, GPS, and SD onto one board — on paper the most feature-dense option here. But CNX Software reported on Feb 11, 2026 that Batch 1 units shipped without WarDrive support, and the maker told buyers to wait for Batch 2. With WarDrive missing, there's nothing to verify on 5 GHz for Batch 1 hardware — a board this feature-dense is also more board to troubleshoot if something in the radio stack doesn't come up clean.

Rabbit-Labs C5

Rabbit-Labs C5 ($125 → $140) combines ESP32-C5, CC1101 sub-GHz, GPS, and SD, and ships with Marauder preloaded per the vendor. CNX Software's Mar 16, 2026 coverage was explicit that the 5 GHz wardrive functionality is unverified — it wasn't independently tested at the time of review. The price also moved from a $125 launch price up to $140 as of Aug 2026, consistent with the batch-pricing pattern across this category.

M5Shark C5

M5Shark C5 ($89.99) doesn't use the word "WarDrive" anywhere on its product page, and its GPS/SD claims are unverified against that gap — the listing implies both are onboard, but there's no independent confirmation that either works with the wardrive flow specifically. A Trustpilot review also flags resellers marking the board up over the original maker's price, which is worth checking before you buy from a third-party listing.

Double Barrel 5G (C5 version)

HoneyHoney's Double Barrel 5G ($165 → $139) added WarDrive support in its V2 revision (Apr 2026), which at least puts it ahead of Apex 5 on paper. But Tindie buyer reviews report deauth failing on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, alongside complaints about loose SMA connectors and SD card quality control — the kind of build-quality issues that are hard to catch from photos alone.

FlipperProBoard Pro+ C5

FlipperProBoard Pro+ C5 ($54.96–$53.95) has very little public footprint — no independent reviews, forum threads, or teardown coverage were found on either Tindie or Lectronz. WarDrive status is unknown and SD support isn't mentioned on the listing, so there's nothing to confirm either way; buying it right now means being an early data point rather than relying on one.

Seeed XIAO ESP32-C5

The Seeed XIAO ESP32-C5 ($6.99) is a bare dev board — no GPS, no SD, no enclosure, no Flipper mount. It's the cheapest way to get real C5 silicon, but you're wiring your own GPS and SD, sourcing your own enclosure, and flashing Marauder (or a community DIY project like Piglet, which has documented working wardriver builds on this chip) yourself. Some users hit an unrelated ESPHome flashing bug (#14045) during setup, so budget time for troubleshooting on top of the parts and wiring.
